I have always told Adam that I would support him in anything he wants or decides to do. After much thought and prayer on both of our ends, he has decided to re-enlist as a career soldier. SO as of today he is well on his way. He has been in the US Army for 10.7 years now. Here is just a recap of those last 10 years...
Mar. 1999 - He joins and goes to basic training at Fort Benning, GA
Aug. 1999 - We move to our 1st duty station, Fort Campbell, KY where Adam deploys with the 3-187 Rakkasan Unit to Afghanistan and Iraq
Mar. 2004 - We move to our 2nd duty station, Fort Benning, GA where Adam becomes a Drill Instructor for 3 years. (we were actually at FTB for a little over 4 years)
Aug. 2008 - We move to our 3rd duty station, Fort Hood TX where Adam depolys to Iraq with the 1-5 Cav Unit.
There is SO much more that I could write about Adam's career up to this point but I will leave it at this. I am so proud of my soldier. He is my hero, my love, my life. No matter what he does I will always be behind him 100%. I am so thankful for him and his love for me and his willingness to serve and protect not only our freedom but the freedom of others.

What a week...
Its been non-stop at the Lehmann house (well 5th wheel, guess its now my house..) Cleared everything out of the apartment. Painted the apartment. Shampooed (that looks funny..) the carpets in the apartment. Scrubbed everything else in the apartment and re-rented it out today.! Oh and during all of this I was putting things away in the new house, and working and running all over! I am tired and I still have 3 days of work left....
Took Mattie into the Vet today for her first round of shots. She was none to happy.. but are any animals when they have to get shots? Or any one for that matter?
And yes, I woke up to snow this morning. SNOW! we went straight from summer (literally 80 degrees on Tues.) to winter.... and my parents heater crapped out on them. Thank heaven for propane! and fleece and blankets! and warm kitty kats to snuggle with!

Ever wonder where this cam from?
Sicker than a dog:
Did a little research and this is what I came up with:
There are several expressions of the form sick as a ..., that date from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Sick as a dog is actually the oldest of them, recorded from 1705; it is probably no more than an attempt to give force to a strongly worded statement of physical unhappiness. It was attached to a dog, because dogs often seem to have been linked to things considered unpleasant or undesirable; down the years they have had an incredibly bad press, linguistically speaking (think of dog tired, dog in the manger, dog’s breakfast, go to the dogs, dog Latin — big dictionaries have long entries about all the ways that dog has been used in a negative sense).
At various times cats, rats and horses have been also dragged in to the expression, though an odd thing is that horses can’t vomit; one nineteenth-century writer did suggest that this version was used “when a person is exceedingly sick without vomiting”. The strangest member of the set was used by Jonathan Swift in 1731: “Poor Miss, she’s sick as a Cushion, she wants nothing but stuffing” (stop laughing at the back).
The modern sick as a parrot recorded from the 1970s — at one time much overused by British sportsmen as the opposite of over the moon — refers to a state of deep mental depression rather than physical illness; this perhaps comes from instances of parrots contracting psittacosis and passing it to their human owners.

offically retired!
no adam is not out of the military, no my dad didnt retire, so why retired? well..... Adam and I decided to cut back ... ALOT.. we are selling everything we have and I mean EVERYTHING and bought a 5th wheel. Instead of calling ourselves trailor trash (no offense to anyone) we are saying we are semi retired! LOL... I will post pics soon.
I will be moving into the trailor this month and next, and then down to Texas in later Dec. early Jan. I am looking forward to this next phase in our lives.
Oh you may ask why not just get an apartment or a house, well good question. Our credit is so bad from the foreclosure that we dont even qualify for an apartment off post. Our finances are, though under control, still not great. So the next option besides a card board box is a 5h wheel!

is it so different?
So maybe its because we saw a weeks worth of patients in 2 days (we saw 52) and am super tired or maybe something has clicked in my brain...but...
I was watching Army Wives and it was a sorta dedication/show on the women left at home while the men went to WWII. Now my mom has always loved war movies and books and the history and stories behind them. So its not like I havent heard or seen these images before.
But tonight, I dont know.. just hit home. Our men and women are in harms way, we are on the home front praying that the messenger doesnt show up at our house. We are doing what we can to support our troops and they are doing what they can to come home to us. We wait for an email, snail mail or that once in awhile phone call. Those women waited even longer for a letter that was written with love from their loved one and opened, read and edited by some clerk.
And though seperated by years, its still the same. And when I realized that I started crying.. am I losing my mind? or am I just missing my husband tremendously?
